Practice Makes Perfect
The healthy habit of learning music requires the
cooperative effort of the teacher, student and parents. This joint effort is
the key to success in Music For Young Children. Parents, we need your help.
Now is the time to set our routine and keep it consistent. Whether it is first
thing in the morning, following school or after dinner please set a schedule
and stick to it - you can do it!! I would encourage you to talk to other
families and find out what works best for them. It is possible amidst your
busy family schedules! Let's take advantage of these keen students and set a
routine which can be maintained. Success is sure to follow a formula which
includes the repetition of 5 days (or more) of practice each week!

**
Remember these are guidelines! Depending on your child, the material being
covered and how tired, hungry or well your child is feeling this time could be
significantly more or less.
To think that establishing a routine and developing discipline will take
little effort and result in no tears is not a fair expectation. HOWEVER, our
job as parents (and mine as teacher) is to encourage as much as possible,
correct when necessary and instill self worth regardless of a child's
performance.
It is hard not to compare your child with their classmates. Please do
remember that EVERY CHILD IS AN INDIVIDUAL - each excels at different aspects
in music (dynamics, timing, theory, singing, rhythm, etc)!
As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns. I aim
to keep in touch with you and always appreciate your feedback, suggestions
and support.
Happy practicing!
Musically,
