Parents - please help!

Parents are a critical component of the MYC® program and the success of our students is in large part due to them. I couldn't do my job without you - thank you! Tips to ensure maximum success this year:

  1. Please arrive for class on time - thank you thank you thank you!!
  2. If you can take a moment to encourage your child to wash their hands before class, I would really appreciate it. It means less germs on the keys and dirt too(: Rest assured I do disinfect the equipment).
  3. Play in time with the class and count out loud - it really makes a huge difference.
  4. Ensure your 5 keys are colored in to show off your diligent practice!
  5. Please do not get into the habit of re-repeating my instructions to your child in class. If redirection is needed from time to time that is great but sometimes it is like an 'echo' in the class with parents re-stating my instructions(: I will repeat instructions if students miss my first directions.
  6. Encourage your child whenever possible.
  7. Thank you for being sensitive to the class and adjusting your cell phones to 'off' or 'vibrate' during lessons.
  8. Try to sit near your piano when you choose a stool and cushion - it makes it much easier with 'traffic' to and from the piano.
  9. Keep practicing fun - make up music games or play along with your child.
  10. Have fun - enthusiasm is contagious!!
  11. Make your class a fun place to be. Get involved! Stand with the kids, sing, be creative with your game station!
  12. DO NOT WORK AHEAD Concepts must be pre-taught in class. If your child needs more material please ask or refer to the "Bonus" section on your HW.
  13. Visiting is only to be done before or after class!! Thank you so much!
